Control module no-start on BMW E70/E71 models (2010–2011); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10039594 · Oct 2011 · also written SI B12 07 11, B120711

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The engine will not start because the engine compartment partition wall is fitted incorrectly allowing water to drip onto the connector strip of the DME control unit leading to internal damage of the DME. E70/E71.
