SIB 12 15 11: Crankshaft sensor no-start

Crankshaft sensor no-start on BMW E53/E60/E61/E70 and other models (2006–2011); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10040852 · Jul 2011 · also written SI B12 15 11, B121511

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The service engine soon light is on. There are trouble codes stored for the crankshaft sensor. No driveability issues.
