SIB 12 30 14: Starter no-start

Starter no-start on N20 engines (2011–2015); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10148167 · Dec 2014 · also written SI B12 30 14, B123014

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Engine Intermittently Will Not Start at Very Low Outside Temperatures. The engine will not start at times at very low outside temperatures (-4°F/-20°C and colder); however, the battery state of charge is correct and the starter turns the engine over properly.
