SIB 51 34 11: Engine corrosion

Engine corrosion on BMW E70/E71 models (2010–2012); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10042469 · Nov 2011 · also written SI B51 34 11, B513411

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Over the lifetime of the vehicle, corrosion formation could occur due to water entering the engine compartment. Engine compartment center bulkhead partition should be sealed.
