SIB 63 03 10: Replace rear lamps or replace rear lamp seals

Replace rear lamps or replace rear lamp seals on BMW E82/E88 models (2008–2009); the fix is replacing the affected part.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10035584 · Jun 2010 · also written SI B63 03 10, B630310

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Replace rear lamps or replace rear lamp seals. The seals on the rear lamps emit a gas that causes damage to the electrical connectors on the leds (light emitting diodes) inside the rear lamp. In some cases, the leds become inoperative. Models E82, E88.
