BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10027625 · Jul 2008 · also written SI B12 18 08, B121808

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The engine oil level displayed in the instrument cluster may be too high or too low. Oil level could be lower than what is displayed and the low oil level warning is not promptly shown. E60, E61, E82, E90, E92 & E93 models.
