SIB 12 19 15: Battery cracking

Battery cracking on N55 engines (2012–2015); the fix is replacing the affected part.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10147709 · Jun 2015 · also written SI B12 19 15, B121915

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Service Action: Replace EME B+ Cable. The Electric Machine Electronics (EME) has a connection for the B+ cable which leads to the 12V battery. This B+ cable transfers energy from the DC/DC converter to the 12V network. This cable may corrode over time and, in extreme cases, could break.
