SIB 01 21 18: Oil consumption service information

Oil consumption service information on BMW E60/E70/E71/E82 and other models (2007–2017); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10200224 · Jun 2021 · also written SI B01 21 18, B012118

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

While engine oil consumption may create a customer inconvenience, in the short term it should not cause any drivability problems that would prevent normal day-to-day operational use of the vehicle
