Spark plugs rough running on BMW E70/E71 models (2009); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10031664 · Sep 2009 · also written SI B12 22 09, B122209

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The spark plugs in the affected suvs may not adhere to the durability requirements. Microcracks in the ceramic insulator of the spark plug may occur, which could result in engine misfiring and rough running, especially at higher engine speeds. 750I, 750LI, X5 m, and X6 m vehicles.
