SIB 51 12 20: Fibers protruding from center speaker cover

Fibers protruding from center speaker cover on BMW G05/G06/G07 models (2019–2020); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10175275 · Apr 2020 · also written SI B51 12 20, B511220

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

FIBERS PROTRUDING FROM CENTER SPEAKER COVER: Fibers are protruding from beneath the center dashboard speaker cover. Insulation material underneath the speaker may become loose. The situation may become even more noticeable on those vehicles where the dashboard area is cleaned using a vacuum cleaner.
