SIB 61 08 10: Battery service information

Battery service information on BMW E53/E70/E71 models (2006–2011); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10037026 · Aug 2010 · also written SI B61 08 10, B610810

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Elctronically disconnecting the junction box without disconnecting the battery will cause damage to the rear power distribution box.
