BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10028365 · Sep 2008 · also written SI B65 16 08, B651608

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

A low voltage condition caused the steering angle sensor position data to be lost. The battery may have been discharged or disconnected. (model E83).
