NHTSA 10150100: Misfire rough running

Misfire rough running on BMW E60/E61/E71/E82 and other models (2007–2013); BMW gives diagnosis and repair guidance.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10150100 · Mar 2013

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The customer may complain that during the cold start in the morning, the engine runs very roughly and the Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated. Various misfire fault codes (e.g., 29CC, 29D2, 29D1, 29D0, 29C0, 29CF) may be stored in the DME control module.
