NHTSA 10162426: Trunk lid warning message

Trunk lid warning message on BMW E46/E90/E91/E92 and other models (2006–2011); BMW gives an inspection and repair procedure.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10162426 · Jul 2019

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Trunk Lid Intermittently Does Not Open or Latch. Intermittently the trunk lid does not pop open when using the remote, or latch when closing. If the vehicle is driven and the trunk is not closed fully, a Check Control message will be displayed in the instrument cluster.
