SIB 11 01 07: Crankcase ventilation leak

Crankcase ventilation leak on M54/N62 engines (2006); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10029025 · Mar 2009 · also written SI B11 01 07, B110107

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Small number of vehicles experience problems ranging from leaking oil filler caps, leaking or broken valve covers, to complete engine failure in extremely cold climate conditions. Moisture accumulating in engine crankcase ventilation valve or hoses CAN freeze due to low ambient temperatures.
