SIB 12 01 11: Check engine light

Check engine light on BMW E53/E60/E61/E70 and other models (2006–2011); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10039765 · Jan 2012 · also written SI B12 01 11, B120111

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The service engine soon light is on while driving. This is a programming issue.
