SIB 12 02 14: Check engine light software update

Check engine light software update on N55 engines (2012–2015); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10148254 · Apr 2014 · also written SI B12 02 14, B120214

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Service Action: Program Control Units (Fuel Shut-off Valve). Due to a software error, it is possible that a Check Engine light (MIL) may not be illuminated after a fault is detected at the fuel shut-off valve (TAV). This is an emissions-relevant fault.
