Service action-program control units-dme (OBD) on BMW E60/E61 models (2009); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10032365 · Sep 2009 · also written SI B12 23 09, B122309

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Service action-program control units-dme (OBD). There is a DME (MSD81) software error which would affect OBD communication efficiency. Diagnostic results during testing could be incomplete. This would not cause any driveability issues. E60-E61 models.
