SIB 12 24 05: Ignition coils misfire

Ignition coils misfire on BMW E90/E92/E93 models (2007–2010); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10037489 · Nov 2010 · also written SI B12 24 05, B122405

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The service engine soon light may be on with the vehicle running rough and internal misfire codes. This is an ignition coil problem.
