Fuel tank noise on BMW G20/F22/F23/F30 and other models (2012–2020); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10178993 · Jul 2020 · also written SI B16 03 19, B160319

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

NOISES FROM THE FUEL TANK AT IDLE: All vehicles except the F48 (X1): While driving slowly with low RPM or while idling a faint knocking or fluttering noise can be heard from inside the fuel tank with a low fuel level (approximately less than 2 gallons).
