SIB 24 02 11: Transmission software update

Transmission software update on BMW E70/E71/F07/F10 and other models (2010–2011); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10040172 · Mar 2011 · also written SI B24 02 11, B240211

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

A software problem is causing the transmission to enter safety mode with the transmission light on. There is a stored trouble code.
