SIB 51 05 26: Tailgate noise

Tailgate noise on BMW I20 models (2024–2025); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 11030055 · Mar 2026 · also written SI B51 05 26, B510526

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

A “groaning” noise may be heard when closing the tailgate.
