SIB 51 16 15: Engine new-car delivery hold

Engine new-car delivery hold on BMW E60/E84/E89/E90 and other models (2009–2017); unsold cars were held for inspection and repair before delivery.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10147017 · Aug 2016 · also written SI B51 16 15, B511615

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Delivery Stop: Remove Engine Oil Label. Affected vehicles in dealer inventory must not be retailed or delivered until the label is removed. Vehicles at ports of entry will be remedied prior to dealer delivery. On affected vehicles, there is an incorrect label regarding the appropriate engine oil.
