SIB 51 17 22: Mirror fault codes

Mirror fault codes on BMW G01/G02/G05/G06 and other models (2018–2023); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10238080 · May 2023 · also written SI B51 17 22, B511722

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Due to the semiconductor supply, the Local Interconnect Network module in either of the exterior mirrors was switched to another controller. That one provides an imprecise voltage measurement, which the main controller interprets as a fault.
