SIB 52 01 20: Seat noise

Seat noise on BMW G29/G42/U10/F39 and other models (2018–2024); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 11034458 · Jun 2026 · also written SI B52 01 20, B520120

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

When getting in or out of the vehicle, a groaning noise can be heard from the opening (aperture) in the seat backrest. The noise may be heard from one or both of the front seats.
