SIB 54 03 19: Sunroof noise

Sunroof noise on BMW G11/G12 models (2016–2020); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 11006736 · Aug 2024 · also written SI B54 03 19, B540319

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

A groaning noise is present from the area between the front and rear sunroof glass panels, only with thesunroof completely closed. Venting the front sunroof glass causes the noise to stop.
