BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10146648 · Apr 2017 · also written SI B61 15 17, B611517

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

SERVICE ACTION: PROGRAMMING CONTROL MODULES FOR OBD COMPLIANCE. Communication between the HV Battery Control Module (SME) and the HV Electrical Machine Electronics (EME) may be disrupted. The Check Engine Light may not be illuminated when the OBD related fault is stored in the SME module.
