SIB 61 15 21: Battery service information

Battery service information on BMW G82/G83 models (2021); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10205094 · Nov 2021 · also written SI B61 15 21, B611521

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

It is possible that the EPP (expanded polypropylene) insert for the lithium-ion battery was not installed in approx. 0.3% of the G82 and G83 vehicles.
