SIB 61 32 22: Tailgate service information

Tailgate service information on BMW F48/U11 models (2022–2023); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10230733 · Dec 2022 · also written SI B61 32 22, B613222

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The Smart Opener (SMO) "kick" function must be repeated several times to open or close the rear tailgate. In some cases, unintentional opening or closing of the tailgate may occur.
