How this is derived: the middle 50% (25th–75th percentile) of the USD prices in the table below for that shop type, using full-job totals only. Labor-only, customer-supplied-parts, warranty cost-share, bundled-extra-work and non-USD prices are shown but excluded. A range is only published with at least 3 usable prices. Symptoms

  • Sudden loss of power with a loud pop or hiss under boost
  • Engine power reduced / drivetrain malfunction message
  • Check-engine light with boost or mixture faults
  • A whooshing sound under acceleration
  • Cracked plastic pipe at the throttle-body end or where the small vacuum line connects

Which cars are affected

F30 335i (2012–2015) and F10 535i (2011–2016); the F30 pipe also fits the F32 435i, F22 M235i, F25 X3 35i and F26 X4 35i

F30 · 3 Series 2012–2019 F32 · 4 Series 2014–2020 F10 · 5 Series 2011–2016 F25 · X3 2011–2017

The factory pipe is plastic and cracks with heat and age, most often at the throttle-body connection. Genuine pipes: 13717604033 (F30/F32 N55) and 13717609811 (F10 535i; 13717588268 is also listed for 2011–2013). Many owners and shops fit an aluminium aftermarket pipe instead. BMW warranty labor time differs between the F30 and F10, so each has its own estimate.

→ Bimmerpost F30: another stock N55 charge pipe failure (dealer quote, owner reports)

→ Genuine 13717604033 fitment: F30 335i, F32 435i, M235i, X3/X4 35i (BimmerWorld)
