BMW lists the fluid as long-life, but ZF and many specialists recommend changing it. The service replaces the plastic oil pan, which has the filter built in, with new bolts, drain and fill plugs, then refills and level-checks at the correct fluid temperature with a scan tool. Kit: 24118612901 (F15 X5, and G05 X5 40i built before about mid-2020) or 24115A13115 (later G05). Fluid: BMW ATF 3+ / ZF Lifeguard 8 (83222289720), about 7 liters.
