Check engine light on BMW E84 models (2012–2015); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10148109 · Jul 2014 · also written SI B12 07 14, B120714

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

Engine Running or Starting Problems Due To Damage to DME. The Service Engine Soon lamp (MIL) is illuminated. The engine may run poorly or no longer start, along with various faults stored in the DME memory. This could be caused by water damage and corrosion to the DME pins and harness connectors.
