SIB 12 12 19: Electrical system service information

Electrical system service information on Electric/W20 engines (2014–2018); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10161550 · May 2019 · also written SI B12 12 19, B121219

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The electrical machine electronics (EME) Printed Circuit Board (PCB) may not have been produced to specifications. In the event that the EME detects this condition it will shut down high-voltage electrical power.
