SIB 13 01 16: EGR cooler software update

EGR cooler software update on BMW F15 models (2014–2017); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10151078 · Feb 2016 · also written SI B13 01 16, B130116

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The DDE software application for exhaust gas recirculation control (EGR) does not favorably match the diesel fuel grades available in many parts of the US market.
