SIB 34 01 09: Steering warning message

Steering warning message on BMW E83 models (2006–2008); BMW released a software update.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10031604 · Sep 2009 · also written SI B34 01 09, B340109

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The steering angle sensor must be adjusted after certain repair work is performed, such as a wheel alignment or coding/programming of the dxc module. Due to a software error of the steering angle sensor, the dxc warning may be displayed after the adjustment is performed. E83 (X3).
