SIB 65 13 16: Component protection active

Component protection active on BMW G01/G11/G12/G30 and other models (2011–2018); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10145316 · Jun 2018 · also written SI B65 13 16, B651316

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

COMPONENT PROTECTION ACTIVE. HEAD UNITS CANNOT BE SWAPPED BETWEEN VEHICLES FOR TESTING.: If either the head unit (NBT-EVO or ENTRY-NAV-EVO) or the Body Domain Controller (BDC) are swapped into a different vehicle they will cause the head unit to enter a locked mode once it recognizes a different VIN.
