What it covers
A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.
The telematics control unit (TCU) in vehicles may not have been properly activated. This causes the manual and automatic emergency call and roadside call (BMW assist) not to function. Models E53, E60, E90, E83 are affected.
