SIB 51 06 22: Heater failure

Heater failure on BMW I20 models (2022–2023); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10238076 · May 2023 · also written SI B51 06 22, B510622

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

The I20 has a front ornamental grille with radome* heating. The radome heating is intended to melt snow deposits in cold weather to ensure the safe function of the sensors behind it.
