Fair-price range (from sourced prices)
How this is derived: the middle 50% (25th–75th percentile) of the USD prices in the table below for that shop type, using full-job totals only. Labor-only, customer-supplied-parts, warranty cost-share, bundled-extra-work and non-USD prices are shown but excluded. A range is only published with at least 3 usable prices. Scope differs between quotes, so read the notes.

Which cars are affected
E90/E92/E93 335i and 335xi (2007–2010) and 335is (2011–2013). Other N54 cars (135i, 535i, X6 xDrive35i, Z4 sDrive35i, 1M, 740i) use the same pump, but labor differs.
BMW's current genuine pump is 13517616170, sold as an exchange part with a core charge. It replaced earlier pumps including 13517613933, 13517594943, 13517616446, 13517592881 and 13517585655. BMW also calls for a new inlet-pipe bolt (13537582770). History: BMW extended the pump's emissions warranty to 10 years / 120,000 miles on 2007–2010 N54 cars (SIB 13 03 09), then ran a voluntary EPA/CARB emissions recall in October 2010 for about 130,000 2007–2010 335i, 2008–2010 135i, 535i and X6 xDrive35i, and 2009–2010 Z4 sDrive35i: a new pump and/or a software update. The 10-year coverage counted from the original in-service date, so it has run out on most cars, and 2011–2013 N54 cars such as the 335is weren't included. Ask a BMW dealer to check the VIN's history anyway. A failing low-pressure (in-tank) pump or sensor can cause similar symptoms, so the diagnosis should rule it out.
