Symptoms

Which cars are affected
2008–2013 E90/E92/E93 M3 (S65). The S65 has two actuators, one per bank. The E60 M5 and E63/E64 M6 S85 V10 uses a similar design.
The plastic gears inside the actuators wear. Options are new genuine units, rebuilt units with upgraded gears (often with a core charge) or gear kits. The intake plenum comes off for the job, so many owners do spark plugs at the same time. Ask whether a quote covers one or both actuators.
