SIB 52 01 22: Seat noise

Seat noise on BMW G01/G02/F97/F98 models (2020–2021); BMW explains the cause and the approved repair.

BMW service bulletin · NHTSA ID 10214262 · Feb 2022 · also written SI B52 01 22, B520122

What it covers

A service bulletin tells BMW technicians how to diagnose or fix a known issue. It is not a recall: a repair under a bulletin is normally paid by the owner unless the car is still under warranty or a warranty extension applies.

A groaning noise can be heard when accelerating and cornering from the area of the shoulder safety belt support(s). The complaint can occur in both the driver's seat and the front passenger seat.
